“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun” Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV)
This is something we all aspire to, finding brand-new, original topics no one has blogged about. We appreciate the idea of being the one who discovers something new to share with the world.
It´s frustrating to look around and find nothing. The new has long lost its spark and we are left with a merry-go-round of the samey subjects and topics. Should we call it quits? Even the Bible says that there is nothing new under the sun and that what has been done will be done again.
This same truth, of course, applies to our blog topics. We were not the first ones to blog about that specific topic.
I have made a basic research about how many people blog and how many blogs are there in the world, of course, I looked for the most credible resources I could find and the most updated information.
Putting in a nutshell, in 2013, WP Virtuoso published an article, accompanied by a very interesting infographic, stating that there were 152,000,000 blogs on the internet (How many blogs are on the internet). Now, that´s a lot of people, and I am not considering the timeframe from 2013 to now! Neither I am considering how volatile blogging is.
Nevertheless, the information we can get from this kind of research is worth a post just for itself, so we can turn information into knowledge for our readers.
This is a big challenge. Quantity never meant quality. And it is not enough to have a blog and expect results from day one. Good things come with work, with perseverance, particularly int those days when we ask ourselves why we go on, and the reason that lead us to begin a blog seem lost in our mental “desert” drowning in blogs and posts.
Alongside tenacity, what might save us from complete drowning is to develop a critical mind about our world, about the things that matter to us, including blogging. What we read, how we read, matter.Good readers make good writers.
A-list readers = A- list writers.
Our unique point of view is ours alone, and we should invest in developing it because our only uniqueness is all that we have to give to the world, and that is more than enough!…
Also, we should write more than anyone else, about everything, and here two things happen, you exercise your creativity, you put pen to paper (and don´t give up if nothing comes out of you, I only begin to write in flow after… well, ten to fifteen minutes).
Give your mind space to wander. Creativity only comes in blank spaces.
We have super busy lives, and for whatever reason we look eager to fill every blank space with something to do. We don´t stop. The over stimulus in which we live in our society isn´t that good either and may even harm our health.
Finally, it is important to create a mind space/set, a state of mind, whatever you want to call it so that your mind can feel free and light. These are the optimal conditions for creativity to flow so that you can write from your heart, and that is a very truthful and beautiful place to start.
There is an enormous possibility that there won´t be anything new under the sun, but who knows for certain anyway? Maybe you´ll be surprised with what you find along the way.
